As you are aware we announced in 2008 that the building of Altitude Kids Dysart would begin in October. However as you would appreciate commencing development projects in the current economic climate is very difficult. This has caused unexpected delays with the builders and we are hoping that the building will commence in the near future. The building timeframe is approximately 40 weeks, therefore it is now likely that the centre will open much later in the year.
When we have more detailed information we will let you know and will keep you informed about the development of the Centre.
We apologise for this delay, we understand is a great inconvenience to the people of Dysart and to the community as a whole.
Introduction January 2007 saw the introduction of the Preparatory Year (Prep) into Queensland schools. There is also a six-month increase in the starting age for Year 1 from 2008. Prep, which replaced preschool, is offered in all state primary schools and accredited non-state schools as a full time non-compulsory year of schooling. Unlike, preschool, there are no waiting lists for Prep in state schools.
Altitude Kids Dysart will hold 1 licence for 75 children from the age 0 to 12 years for Long Day Care and Outside School Hours Care. The centre will operate between 6am to 6pm, Monday – Friday, 50 weeks of the year. We close each year for two weeks over the Christmas New Year period and also on all Queensland public holidays.

Outside School Hours Care and Vacation Care As you all know we are planning to open Altitude Kids Moranbah in early July this year. The development of the building is going well and it looks great. This update is to inform you that we will stagger the opening of rooms within the Centre with the Babies, 2yr, 3yr and a preschool room opening in July. We will then open the Outside School Hours Care and Vacation care at a later date, probably in October 2008. The reasons for not offering Outside School Care immediately is that we are trying still trying to source enough trained staff to run the program, and we are also talking with Moranbah East State School about locating an Outside School Care Program within the grounds of the school, which will be more convenient for parents.
